He Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for casual Speech Language Therapists to join our friendly and supportive team at Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty, based in Tauranga.
This position is casual, casual being as and when required. The role will be predominantly inpatient focussed with some outpatient clinics providing assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders for adults.
This position would suit a clinician with extensive dysphagia training and clinical experience, but applications from recently graduated clinicians are also welcome.
You will work within a close team that provide speech language therapy services to adults.
You will need a sound knowledge of the use of informal and formal assessment tools, excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work well within a team to achieve client focused goals and a focus on evidence-based practice.
The successful candidate will need:
- To be a member of the New Zealand Speech Therapy Associate (NZSTA)
- A Bachelors or Masters degree in Speech Language Therapy from an NZSTA – accredited programme; or have a NZSTA approved qualification
- Experience performing and interpreting video fluoroscopy swallowing studies and FEES
- Experience working within a inter-disciplinary team working towards patient focused goals
- A current valid full New Zealand drivers licence

Our preferred candidate will have:
- Experience in a hospital setting working on acute wards and preferrable experience in a rehab setting
- Flexibility to work across various hospital clinical areas as directed dependent on service need
- Passion and a drive to make a real difference through your work and have a strong cultural awareness
