We seek a Paediatric Fellow/Advanced Trainee at Whakatane Hospital, Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty commencing January 2024.
He kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
This position is a 12 month fixed term post, ending January 2024. The post, superb for a Senior Paediatric Registrar wanting genuine “peripheral and rural” training experience accredited by Royal Australasian College of Physicians shares after-hours call, averaging 1:4, with four Consultant Paediatricians/ one MOSS. Supervision will be appropriate for the registrar/ trainee.
The post is also recognised by the Division of Rural Hospital Medicine Training. Whilst RMHT applicants will be considered, preference will be given to RACP Advanced Trainees. Applicants will be eligible for Medical Council of New Zealand registration, appointments are subject to safety check requirements of Vulnerable Children Act 2014.

Whakatane Hospital is newly built. Our dynamic team cover acute paediatrics, Level 2 neonates & an acute care unit (ACU), four ambulatory clinics, MDT clinics, developmental and community paediatrics with robust linkage to MOE, CAFMHS, Oranga Tamariki, Children's Team and tertiary services. Many of our communities, especially Maori, have high health needs. Our Registrar will have the will, skills, energy, innovation and adaptability to make a difference.
