Advanced Trainees in Paediatrics are invited to apply for a General Paediatric Fellow position at Tauranga Hospital. These jobs are accredited for 12 months of core training by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty is spread across a vast geographical area and centred across two hospitals based in Tauranga and Whakatāne. We serve a population of approximately 308,000 for the major population centres of Tauranga, Katikati, Te Puke, Whakatāne, Kawerau and Ōpōtiki. Te Whatu Ora Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty is one of the Bay of Plenty's largest employers with over 4000 staff.
He kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
This job is an ideal post for those close to the end of their training in Paediatrics.
You will work on the SMO on call roster along with 12 Paediatricians as part of a 14 person acute senior roster. One in seven weeks is spent on the ward, alternating weeks between our 22 bed General Paediatric ward and 12 Bed level 2 SCBU catering for babies over 32 weeks gestation. Other weeks you will work in outpatients, working 2.5 clinics per week. Most weeks you will be on call overnight from home along with an SMO, and on site RMO cover.
This is a very well supported role ideal for Trainees ready to assume more responsibility whilst still enjoying full consultant supervision at all times. Half a day a week is available for working on your advanced training project, and another half a day a fortnight for CME.
The contract is an ASMS contract in recognition of the senior nature of the role. Our unit is accredited for basic and advanced trainees, and you will be involved in supervising 12 RMO's. We are also a training Centre for the University of Auckland Paediatric Program and have undergraduate medical students, and a regular teaching program for Trainees.
