We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist to join our dynamic, innovative, and friendly team with a focus on the delivery of high-quality care to the growing population in the Bay of Plenty. The available position is based with our Tauranga Community Mental Health Service (Adult).
You will be working with a dynamic multi-disciplinary Team consisting of Psychiatrists, Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational therapists, NASC, AOD clinicians, peer support and advocacy workers, and a wonderful administration team. The focus of the Tauranga Community Mental Health team is a Recovery Model for individuals who have a serious mental disorder.
The aim of this team is to work with referrers, health partners, families/whānau and the community to provide effective triage, assessment and management of Tangata Whaiora who are requiring our services. We work alongside the Tangata Whaiora with the core values of patient centred care, and we achieve this with a focus on maximising health while promoting independence in the community.
You will be provided with support from the Clinical Lead around caseloads and clinical issues, and there will be opportunities to develop your skills within the team. The nature of the work itself means that there is a lot of variety, so it is different and diverse each day.
NB This position is suitable for those trained in, and adhering to, the clinical and educational scopes of practice as defined by the New Zealand Psychologists Board.
He Kōrero mōu - About You
We are seeking applicants who have:
- New Zealand Registered Clinical Psychologist (or able to obtain)
- Postgraduate training in Clinical Psychology and other relevant postgraduate training
- Neuropsychological knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of assessment processes including behavioural analysis
- Current psychological theory, ideologies and conceptual frameworks relating to assessment practices in general and especially those relating to clients
- Interviewing techniques and styles and their relevance to information collection
- Risk assessment
- Develop psychological formulations and develop provisional hypotheses
- Knowledge of the role of psychometric tools in psychological assessment
- Knowledge of psychometric tools relevant to workplace in secondary services
- Impact of the wider context on assessment processes
- Impact of culture on assessment processes
- Understanding of assessment practices used by other disciplines
- Knowledge and ability to conduct mental status examinations
