Te Whatu Ora Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty currently have a position available for a suitably qualified Specialist to join the Obstetrics and Gynaecology team based at Whakatāne Hospital. We have permanent full/part-time positions up to 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week). We encourage you to apply and state in your cover letter how many hours per week you could be considered for.
We serve a large catchment area within the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Our clients are from a diverse background, with the majority being Māori. There is a lot of pathology, making this one of the few remaining places in New Zealand for someone who desires making a big, real, and positive impact in people's lives. Are you that person?
The Whakatāne Hospital Maternity service is a Secondary level service with approximately 700 births a year. A Level 2 Special Care Baby Unit is located within the maternity facility. Patients requiring Tertiary care are referred to Waikato and/or Auckland Hospitals. Elective gynaecology services, including full Colposcopy services are provided locally. We have a well-resourced theatre facility for acute and elective surgery, including minor and major open and minimal access procedures.
You will become a member of a small team of five O & G specialists based in Whakatāne, with whom you will share the on call and elective workload. You should therefore be a good team player with a flexible work ethic. Knowledge of the New Zealand healthcare system will be an advantage.
To be considered for the role we require you to be registered or eligible for registration with the O & G Vocational scope of practice, as determined by the Medical Council of New Zealand. You must be flexible to share the after-hours on-call roster.
