An exciting opportunity exists to join the Southern Region Intelligence team, based in Christchurch. Reporting to the Manager Regional Intelligence, Southern, the Intelligence Officer role is part of a small team tasked with providing quality actionable intelligence to support Hōkai Rangi and help to protect victims, prevent criminal activity and support staff safety.
He kōrero mōu | About you
With an innately high work ethic, you possess an understanding of operational and tactical intelligence. You will apply your operational experience to help collect information in order to help prevent harm and manage future risk, including the prevention and detection of criminal activity in prisons.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A sound understanding of the principles and methodologies of the Intelligence Cycle and intelligence collection plans and processes
- The credibility, integrity and personality to establish and maintain strong relationships internal and external to the Department
- Experience in interviewing
- Knowledge of the legislation governing information collection, storage, dissemination and it's use
- Ability to work in a team, yet responsible for your own tasks and wider team committments
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- A full clear drivers licence is essential and some travel maybe required
Ideally, you will have formal intelligence qualifications (Level 3 Certificate in Intelligence as a minimum), possessing an ability to evaluate information often under time critical circumstances. In addition, you will demonstrate a committment to ensuring the integrity of our operations and understand the importance of elevating concerns before issues arise.
Utu ā-tau | Salary
The start range for this salary will be between $74,675 - $78,877. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
