About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our District Nursing team on a fixed-term 0.8 FTE basis from November 2026 to November 2027, covering parental leave.

As a District Nurse, you'll provide safe, high-quality nursing care to patients in their homes and community settings, supporting individuals to maintain their health, independence, and wellbeing. Working collaboratively with patients, whānau, multidisciplinary teams, and community providers, you'll utilise your clinical expertise, critical thinking, and person-centred approach to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care that meets the diverse needs of our community.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Registered Nurse
• A current Annual Practising Certificate
• A current full New Zealand Driver Licence
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• A commitment to professional accountability, quality improvement, and ongoing development
• Demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Māori health equity, and culturally safe practice
• An understanding of tikanga Māori and the impact of health inequities on health outcomes
• The ability to adapt to a changing healthcare environment and maintain high standards of care

Desirable

• Previous experience in community or district nursing
• Experience managing complex clinical presentations in community settings
• Knowledge of long-term condition management and health promotion
• Experience working collaboratively with community agencies and healthcare providers

Salary Range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the NZNO Collective Agreement, and salary will be paid in accordance with the applicable pay scale, dependent on experience.
