About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse leader and educator to join the Learning Hub team as a Learning Hub Advisor on a fixed-term basis until February 2028.
This is a key Designated Senior Nurse role focused on supporting and strengthening nursing practice across South Canterbury through education, leadership, mentorship, and workforce development. Working collaboratively with clinical leaders, managers, and frontline teams, you will play an integral role in ensuring safe, high-quality, evidence-based nursing care and improving health outcomes for our community.
The role provides leadership in nursing education and professional development, supporting staff to grow their clinical capability and achieve professional development goals. You will contribute to education planning and delivery, support programmes such as PDRP, lead quality improvement initiatives, promote evidence-based practice, and work alongside teams to identify and respond to learning and development needs.
You will also act as a clinical resource and mentor, supporting a culture of lifelong learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the organisation.

The Learning Hub supports the professional development and educational needs of nursing staff across South Canterbury. Working closely with clinical teams, managers, and organisational leaders, the team is committed to building workforce capability and supporting excellence in patient care.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential
- Registration as a Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate
- Current Expert or Designated Senior Nurse PDRP
- A postgraduate diploma, or be working towards one
- Minimum five years' recent clinical experience
- Demonstrated experience in nursing education
- Strong clinical leadership skills and the ability to influence practice improvement
- Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application within healthcare
- Strong understanding of contemporary nursing practice, professional standards, and quality improvement processes
- Excellent communication, coaching, mentoring, and relationship-building skills
- The ability to work collaboratively across a wide range of services and professional groups
- A commitment to equity, continuous improvement, and evidence-based practice.
Desirable
- Qualifications relating to adult teaching and learning
- Experience leading quality initiatives and change management projects
- Experience supporting professional development programmes
- Established professional networks within nursing education.

Salary Range
This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the NZNO Designated Senior Nurse collective agreement and will be remunerated according to skills, experience, and qualifications.
