Senior Clinical Pharmacist

- 1 FTE (80 hours a fortnight)

About the Role
- Provide expert clinical pharmacy support within community health services,
- Work closely with primary care and multidisciplinary teams to optimise the safe and effective use of medicines.
- Focus on delivering patient-centred medication reviews, improving health outcomes, supporting evidence-based prescribing,
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, education, and best-practice guidance across community services.
- Deliver expert medicines management and clinical reviews that directly improve patient outcomes
- Work autonomously across primary care and community teams while leading quality improvement initiatives and influencing best practice

Timaru Hospital is a vital regional facility in South Canterbury known for combining a community-focused, provincial scale with comprehensive secondary-level care, a 24-hour district trauma service, local oncology and critical care units, and a unique supportive lifestyle environment for its medical staff. The hospital provides secondary services to the district population of approximately 50,000 people, has 130 beds.
About You
- A Registered Pharmacist holding a current New Zealand Pharmacy Council Annual Practicing Certificate (with no adverse conditions)
- BPharm and Postgraduate Diploma/Certificate – or equivalent
- Previous hospital experience
- Previous experience at a Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora hospital or service
- A commitment to improving professional practice and life-long learning.
Advantageous but not essential:
- 5 years previous hospital experience – preferably in New Zealand
- 2 years previous experience at a Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora hospital or service

Salary
This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the APEX Collective Agreement, and the Pay Scale, determined on relevant experience.
