About the Role
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will play a critical role in enabling high-quality, data-driven planning, funding and integration decisions across the Central Region. Working at the intersection of strategy, analytics and service design, you will lead the analysis of complex business needs, systems and processes to support investment decisions that directly impact health outcomes and equity.
On a day-to-day basis, you will partner closely with Funding and Integration teams, act as a conduit between regional and national PFO teams, and translate strategic priorities into clear analytical requirements, insights and solutions. You will contribute early to service and commissioning design, develop business cases and funding proposals, and ensure robust monitoring and reporting is in place to track outcomes, performance and return on investment. This is a senior, influential role for an analyst who enjoys complexity, stakeholder engagement and system-level problem solving.
About the Team/Service/ Location
You will be part of the Planning & Improvement team within the Central Region, working alongside Funding, Integration, and Data & Analytics. The team supports regional and national priorities by providing high-quality analysis, insight and advice that strengthens decision-making and investment outcomes. You will work collaboratively across regional and national PFO teams.
About you
You're an experienced and insightful analyst with a passion for turning data into meaningful action. With a strong background in varied environments—ideally across healthcare, public sector, or commissioning—you bring a mix of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of health equity. You're confident engaging with stakeholders, translating complex insights into compelling narratives, and mentoring others to grow analytical capability across the team. You're also committed to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and applying its principles meaningfully in your work.
You will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification and 5–10 years' experience in business analysis or advanced analytics roles
- Strong experience translating business needs into clear requirements, insights and technical specifications
- Proven experience working with complex health, public sector or commissioning datasets, with a strong equity focus
- A demonstrated understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how to apply its principles in planning, funding and service design
- Advanced capability in Power BI, SQL and Excel, with experience developing models, dashboards and repeatable analytical tools
