About the Role 

We are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in all things government and issuing advice to support those processes.  The role is highly collaborative and you will need the confidence to develop and manage relationships at all levels across the Ministry, as well as those outside the organisation. 

Key accountabilities include: 

  • providing advice to the business for responding to Official Information Act requests
  • providing advice and guidance on ministerial items and government processes
  • facilitating the development of high quality and timely written work
  • coordinating and reviewing the Ministry's proactive release programme and products.

A key focus of the role will be identifying and mitigating risk, as well as looking at ways to improve the efficiency of the services we provide. 

You will be supported by our senior advisors and there will be lots of opportunities to develop.  You will also provide training and support to the Ministry on the work that you're responsible for. 

Skills and Experience 

Our ideal candidate will offer:

  • strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels
  • knowledge or understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and te ao Maori

  • applies learnings to real-life examples.

Most importantly, you will be a fast learner, have a great work ethic, attitude and be a team player.  You'll also have a desire to learn and build your skill set in an exciting Ministry. 

Prior working knowledge of the Official Information Act 1982 is desirable, as is previous experience as a public servant.

Salary range for this role is $66,521 to $86,086.  Appointment within these ranges will be based on skills and experience.
