He angitūtanga | About the role

The Integrated Planning and Reporting team is seeking a Principal Advisor, Climate Change Mitigation to lead DOC's climate change mitigation work programme. This role will also lead DOC's carbon emissions measurement, verification, and carbon reduction initiatives. A key part of the role will be providing technical advice relating to climate change mitigation and emissions reductions.

An understanding of carbon accounting and waste minimisation would be a useful background as part of DOC's programme to drive down emissions, and move to a sustainable, low-carbon operating model.

The ideal applicant will:

• have experience in leading climate change mitigation and carbon reduction initiatives
• be knowledgeable in legislation and policy approaches driving emissions reductions and environmental sustainability in New Zealand
• be passionate and knowledgeable about climate change mitigation and environmental sustainability
• have knowledge and experience in carbon accounting and initiating complex projects
• a Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, earth science, environmental science, or equivalent expertise.

The salary range for this position is $105,453 to $133,636 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
