Job Description

This is a rewarding new role at an exciting time at DOC. You have the opportunity to lead a key programme of work for the Department that is transformative.

Collaborative Landscape Conservation projects are about working at scale with key partners to remove predators and pests from large areas to significantly accelerate conservation outcomes for NZ. We need predator free landscapes for our precious and endangered taonga species to thrive.

The primary focus of the Partnerships Manager is to work with partners and communities to scope, design and enable the implementation of landscape management conservation projects across Tāmaki Makaurau. By working with others, the role will achieve positive outcomes for managing plant and animal pests. It will support the restoration of our nature and deliver on the Department's Predator Free 2050 initiative.

We are looking for an inspirational leader to join the Partnerships Group as a Partnerships Manager. This position is responsible for:

  • Providing strong leadership to the Department's contribution to regional landscape management projects on the Auckland mainland and Hauraki Gulf Islands;
  • Working in partnership with Auckland Council and community to grow a ‘Pest Free' Auckland Region;
  • Engaging with iwi to seek guidance, input and participation in landscape management projects;
  • Collaborating across DOC and the Partnership Group to contribute as a project team leader and project team member as necessary to achieve step change growth outcomes;

This role includes a strong partnership development and relationship management component. A sound appreciation and understanding of how to build relationships internally and externally will be needed to achieve success. In addition, an understanding of the diversity of Auckland communities is desirable.
