Job Description

Are you keen to do your bit to grow conservation? Are you good at leading a small, highly effective team? Do you know how to get others engaged and active in supporting conservation? We have an opportunity available for a great, hard-working person to join our Operations team.

 

As a Supervisor, Community, you will be a leader in a hard-working, passionate and focused Operations team working on important conservation initiatives across Kapiti and Wellington. 

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading a team of six full-time staff, including a busy visitor centre, to deliver work including resource management and concession work, communication and events, volunteer support and management, visitor information, and Treaty of Waitangi implementation.
  • Ensuring effective relationships are fostered and deliver real conservation results. 
  • Working with the Senior Ranger Community to create and prioritise the work programme of the Community team, and ensure the work programme is delivered on time and on-budget.
  • Being a constructive and engaged member of the District's Leadership Team.

 

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Excellent team leader and team member skills;
  • Experience leading a small team;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Strong networking abilities, with positive working relationships across a broad range of groups;
  • A passion for conservation;
  • Experience working with iwi; 
  • Knowledge and experience in planning and organising projects and events.
  • A tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience, in a field related to conservation.
