Job Description

Do you want to work in a role that supports conservation in the field?

The Department of Conservation has a responsibility to oversee and manage with others the natural heritage across New Zealand.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team working across the Central North Island region.  The purpose of the role is to support the Department's Natural Heritage information systems and provide advice to our Operations teams on natural asset conditions and site management.  You will also be involved in developing and monitoring biodiversity work programmes and work plans.  You will be required to work with Operations staff at all District Offices from the Bay of Plenty south to Whanganui.  There is opportunity to get away from a computer, and into the field to be involved in adding value to work they are delivering.

We are looking for an experienced biodiversity planner, with a good understanding of field operations and sound knowledge of ecosystem principles and processes – which you can explain to others.  Strong people skills are fundamental as the success of the role relies on your ability to work with others.

If you love biodiversity, are skilled at using computer-based systems, have experience in analysing datasets, and have an active interest in our natural heritage, then this may well be the role for you!

Please apply online.  Applications must include a cover letter, CV and evidence of the required capabilities as per the role description.
