Lead Education Advisor - Communities of Learning | Kāhui Ako

Fixed-term position until 30 June 2019 based in

Palmerston North or Whanganui

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced, dynamic and innovative education professional to join our fantastic region.  Are you currently working in the education sector or have previously?  This Lead Education Advisor role will be focused on supporting the implementation and facilitation of Communities of Learning | Kāhui Ako across our region.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in partnership with sector leaders and communities to support them to achieve successful educational outcomes for all students.  You must be able to influence others and be able to back this up with knowledge, skills and experience in improving student engagement and achievement.  This is a unique opportunity to play a part in championing 21st century teaching and learning and in positively influencing change in schools, kura and early learning services.

To be successful in this role you will need to be great at:

  • Building successful relationships with a range of groups and individuals.
  • Working with data and information to identify issues and come up with solutions to solve complex problems and make decisions.
  • Leading and working with others to support and implement change initiatives.
  • Presenting and facilitating group discussions.

We are looking for people who ideally will have:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the New Zealand education system and relevant legislation.
  • An understanding of the relationship between policy intent and the range and combination of tools available for implementing new initiatives.
