About us

The Education Infrastructure Service (EIS) as part of the Ministry manages one of the largest property portfolios in New Zealand, composed of approximately 2,500 primary and secondary schools and over 8,000 hectares of land with a carrying value of $14.6b. The total school property portfolio has a replacement value of $23.5 billion. EIS is also responsible for managing school transport, the schools payroll, and the delivery of technology in Schools. EIS undertakes 3,000 projects per annum; a combination of Ministry led and School Board led projects costing between $500m and $750m per annum.


About the role

The Regional Property Advisor (RPA) is a pivotal role for our team and involves: 

  • Building and maintaining relationships with school Boards of Trustees to provide guidance and support across a broad range of property issues.
  • Managing a portfolio which will have challenging asset management, infrastructure and property investment issues. This will require discussions with a range of parties, including school Boards and Principals, to ensure solutions developed represent an appropriate asset management response.
  • Working collaboratively across the Ministry to share information including technical knowledge and experience with others so all schools, networks and Communities of Learning are well supported and there is consistent delivery of service.


About you

You will have relevant experience in a property management discipline and as a proven property professional you will have a passion for delivering outstanding customer service and championing operational excellence.

You will also offer:

  • A relevant professional qualification such as Asset Management, Quantity Surveying, Architecture Infrastructure Planning, Property or Project Management and/or experience in the construction industry
  • The proven ability to plan, implement and manage complex issues through to resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement initiatives and achieve positive results
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • The ability to consider the big picture view, while understanding the detail.
