Education Advisor - Early Childhood Education (ECE)

Full-time Permanent Position

Based in Whanganui or Palmerston North

By giving effect to government and Ministry policy and supporting education and community leadership, Education Advisors enable the positive changes required to lift aspiration and raise educational achievement for every New Zealanders.

The Education Advisor engages with the learning community to broker and support the implementation of services, projects and initiatives.


About the role

You will be providing advice and support to early learning services over the short, medium and long term to meet ongoing and future educational requirements. 

Your key priorities will include:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with ECE services to provide guidance and support across a broad range of issues.
  • Providing support, tools and advice to help services meet the regulatory and statutory frameworks.
  • Supporting ECE and schools, Communities of Learning | Kāhui Ako to support improved outcomes for all learners.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of evidenced based work plans.


About you

To be successful in this role you will need to be an exceptional communicator with proven skills in building and managing strong, effective relationships.

You will also offer:

  • Experience in and understanding of the New Zealand education systems and relevant legislation.
  • The ability to interpret, plainly articulate the intent, and apply the ECE regulatory framework.
  • The ability to plan and implement initiatives and achieve positive results.
  • The ability to manage and prioritise competing demands.
  • The confidence to work across a diverse range of services and contexts, including Māori medium and Pasifika ECE services.
  • The ability to analyse complex issues to produce clear and succinct written work and strong written and oral communication skills.


A qualification in Early Childhood Education is desirable
