ABOUT THE GROUP

 
The role of the Pathways & Progress group is to set the direction for what students learn, how they progress and how school leaders and teachers can achieve that for every child and student across years 1 to 13.

The key to this is backing school leaders to deliver the New Zealand curriculum in ways that help them meet the current and future needs of students in the 21st century. 

The group needs people who can look at evidence and important educational trends to design solution, resources, tools and services that lift educational achievement for all, as well as targeting investments and interventions bring about equitable outcomes for all students. 

The people in Pathway & Progress need to be able to work with others to design innovative initiatives that achieve policy intentions, plan successful implementation strategies and monitoring to ensure a return on investment. 

Pathways & Progress ensures there is alignment of the ministry's work programme to fully support student progress and achievement across the curriculum from te whariki through primary and secondary education and the emphasis of successful transitions and pathways for learners across the entire system.

 

Senior Adviser - Curriculum Design & Assessment

About the role

The Senior Adviser is responsible for the design and development of curriculum, teaching and learning initiatives within an investment and innovation framework across the early learning to senior secondary spectrum.  Senior Advisers undertake detailed design and provide advice on the development of effective and workable practices and products to implement new curriculum initiatives.  Senior advisers work collaboratively with others on change initiatives, support improvement by focusing on what is and isn't working to tailor and customise approaches to meet needs. 

About the person

The person in this role will be able to work at pace and be agile in managing multiple priorities.  Your personal qualities will include taking pride in producing written work of the highest quality every time.  You will have strong design and evaluative capability with a proven ability to get the job done.  In this role you will be expected to have the kind of interpersonal savviness that means you relate well with all kinds of people.  You will have the background knowledge and understanding in curriculum and assessment to enable you to work with others to design new and innovative responses.
