The Organisation

The Ministry of Education's purpose is to be the lead advisor on the education system, shaping direction for educational agencies and providers and contributing to the Government's goal for education. 

As part of this vision, the Ministry is currently going through an exciting change journey in order to meet, improve and influence how the system will be shaped for the betterment for every New Zealander.

Hudson have the pleasure of working with the Evidence Synthesis and Dissemination group to secure a passionate Manager for their newly established Information Requests team. This team will be responsible for responding to information requests into the wider Evidence Data and Knowledge group. This will include data and information requests, Official Information Act requests, Parliamentary Questions, and rapid requests ranging from straight forward to complex.

The Role

The Manager Information Requests is an influential role that provides leadership to the team which plays a critical function in the group's ability to communicate with their customers in an effective and timely manner.

With a focus on continuous improvement, the Manager will establish and embed processes and set service level agreements and quality standards across the team, as well as developing and assisting with the leadership of client engagement strategies across the Ministry and sector.

To ensure the team is providing a value-add service, you will be monitoring the volume, nature and response times of requests, and look to gather feedback from your customers in order to make improvements where required.

In addition to this, you will lead the team's input into the strategic and operational planning for the group ensuring it's alignment with the Ministry's overall strategic direction.

The Person

As a champion for the team and wider group, you will not be afraid to actively engage across the business in order to establish and maintain positive working relationships. You will have a naturally collaborative style and an ability to draw connections when you need input from others, or vice versa.

With a well- tuned political radar, you will be able to think ahead to what your customer might be requiring in the future. This will allow you to front foot any potential issues and risks. A thorough understanding of the machinery of Government and a demonstrated ability to understand the political context in relation to data and information will prove crucial.

You are someone who gets excited at the thought of establishing something new and the potential that can bring. You will understand the importance of the effective communication of quality data to your customers, and that this forms the basis of your day to day activity. You will come from a background which allows you to work with data and information with ease.
