Education Adviser (Schools)

Permanent Position, Part Time (0.5 FTE)

The regional offices are the key interface between the Ministry and early learning providers, schools and kura. We have a great opportunity for a new appointee to join our Tai Tokerau team. Our vision is ultimately about ensuring children succeed personally and achieve academically, so in years to come they are productive, valued in their community and competitive in the world.

This role will be dedicated to the management of selected education responsibilities in the Tai Tokerau, Whangarei Ministry office.  This may include managing Home Education applications and local contracts with schools.

A key requirement of the position is the demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships within the Ministry and externally including with sector stakeholders and education providers; an understanding and ability to use databases to record, monitor, evaluate and prepare reports; an understanding of the key drivers of student achievement.

You will also offer:

  • Cultural competence, capability, credibility and understanding the relevance of identity; language and culture for Māori, Pasifika and students with learning needs;
  • An understanding of Ka Hikitia, the Pasifika Education Plan and Success for All and how these documents impact on the work;  
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent
