About us

Education Infrastructure Service (EIS) as part of the Ministry manages one of the largest property portfolios in New Zealand, composed of approximately 2,500 primary and secondary schools and over 8,000 hectares of land with a carrying value of $14.6b. The total school property portfolio has a replacement value of $23.5 billion. Our vision is to build safe and inspiring learning environments, which will equip our students to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

Infrastructure Advisory Services is a team within the Education Infrastructure Service which provides support and guidance to state schools in the management of crown owned property and in undertaking property related work on school land and buildings.

About the role

The School Property Officer is primarily responsible for supporting School Property Advisors across the region and the processing of schools property project documentation, project submissions and to foster and manage relationships between schools and the Ministry by responding to queries and information requests.

This position is an opportunity for someone with an interest in asset management. It will give you a flavour of what property portfolio management within the Ministry involves, leading to more specialised work as your career progresses through the organisation. Because the Ministry is one of New Zealand's largest and diverse infrastructure owners, that career will provide opportunities to experience every facet of asset related disciplines available in this country.

  • Experience working within a property related team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
