Senior Adviser - Knowledge Building and Analysis, Pathways and Progress

Early Learning and Student Achievement

Full Time Fixed Term til June 2019


About the group

The role of the Pathways & Progress group is to set the conditions for effective curriculum implementation including what students learn, and how they progress and achieve across years 1 to 13.

The group needs people who can look at evidence and important educational trends to design solutions, resources, tools and services that lift educational progress and achievement for all, as well as targeting investments and interventions to bring about equitable outcomes for all students. 

The people in Pathway & Progress need to be able to work with others to design innovative initiatives that achieve policy intentions, plan successful implementation strategies and monitor these to ensure a return on investment. 

Pathways & Progress ensures there is alignment of the ministry's work programme to fully support student progress and achievement across the curriculum from early learning through primary and secondary education and the emphasis of successful transitions and pathways for learners across the entire system.


About the role

The Senior Adviser is responsible for gathering, analysing and reporting on curriculum-related information, data and evidence across the early learning to senior secondary pathway, and in English and/or Māori medium to support learners' progress and achievement.

The Senior Adviser works collaboratively when engaging with internal and external stakeholders to support knowledge building and analysis.

The person in this role will be able to work at pace and be agile in managing multiple priorities.  Your personal qualities will include taking pride in producing written work of the highest quality every time.  You will have strong analysis skills and evaluative capability with a proven ability to get the job done.  In this role you will be expected to have the kind of interpersonal savviness that means you relate well with all kinds of people.  You will have the background knowledge and understanding in curriculum and assessment to enable you to work with others to.
