X 2 Senior Adviser, Pathways and Progress

Early Learning and Student Achievement

Full Time Fixed Term 30 June 2019

 

About the group

The role of the Pathways & Progress group is to set the direction for what students learn, how they progress and how school leaders and teachers can achieve that for every child and student across school years 1 to 13.

The group uses evidence and educational trends to design targeted solutions, resources, tools and services that lift educational achievement for all.

The group co-designs and co-develops innovative initiatives that achieve policy intentions, plan successful implementation strategies and monitor to ensure a return on investment.

 

About the role

The Senior Adviser is responsible for the development and implementation planning of teaching and learning initiatives across years 1-10 to support school leaders and teachers to lift student achievement.  They will be responsible for a portfolio of responsive initiatives that strengthen professional capability and leadership to ensure all learners can progress and achieve at the expected level. 

The role is to ensure that progress and performance indicators are well monitored for effective management of public expenditure and support investment decisions.  The role provides trusted advice on policy development, emerging trends, issues and risks.  Senior advisers work collaboratively with others on change initiatives, support improvement by focusing on what is and isn't working to tailor and customise approaches to meet needs. 

 

About the person

The person in this role will be able to work at pace and be agile in managing multiple priorities.  Your personal qualities will include taking pride in producing written work of the highest quality every time.  You will have strong evaluative capability and a proven ability to get the job done.  In this role you will be expected to have the kind of interpersonal savviness that means you relate well with all kinds of people.  You will have the background knowledge and understanding which contribute to strategies that improve professional capability and leadership and that make you a credible adviser when working with others to design, plan, monitor and evaluate initiatives and services to raise student achievement.  Some public sector, procurement knowledge and project management experience would be beneficial.
