Permanent Full-time position located in Auckland


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Special Education Advisor in the Learning Support team based in Auckland.

The successful applicant will work as part of supportive multi-disciplinary team, collaborating to provide a range of services that support inclusive education for children and young people with high and often complex needs, including those with behaviour challenges.

If you have: skills in assessment, experience in working with teachers to develop and implement strategies to promote access to and participation in classroom and whole school activities; and skills in delivering professional learning and development (workshops and training) then this position could be for you.

The successful applicant will be capable of developing strong collaborative relationships with whānau, educators and other agencies to improve educational outcomes for children and young people with high and complex needs.

To support service provision applicants will need to demonstrate a high level of skill, knowledge and understanding of inclusive education practices. They will also need to demonstrate sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity and commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi. 

We invite applications from experienced Teachers/ educators who have relevant qualifications, experience and skills in supporting children and young people with complex and ongoing learning needs.

Relevant experience in New Zealand education and Special Education is preferred and a working knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum will be an advantage.

A current driving licence is essential.
