Are you an experienced early intervention practitioner looking for a change of focus and want to join the Ministry of Education's Auckland Performance and Quality Team as a Practice and Implementation Advisor?


The Performance and Quality team provides support across Auckland to our Ministry Learning Support teams made up of 300 practitioners and managers situated in four geographically based offices.  We work with colleagues' right across the Ministry, supporting regional performance and quality, identifying opportunities to build the capability of our workforce through induction, supervision and professional development.  We partner with others to support the implementation of new initiatives. We are also involved in evaluation and continuous improvement.


This Practice and Implementation Advisor role will hold the portfolio for early intervention work.  This presents an opportunity to connect with others across the organisation to work to develop and support early intervention practice and initiatives.


Reporting to the Performance & Quality Lead you will:

  • develop a clear picture of current resources available from the Ministry to support whānau, early childhood services, and schools where there are young children with additional learning needs
  • support any agreed changes and  implementation of service improvements for our services
  • support the implementation of the Learning Support  Delivery Model
  • assist with building workforce capability through  professional learning  and development
  • develop Ministry wide relationships to ensure that services are well connected and understood
  • contribute to the overall work programme of the Performance and Quality Team
  • other work as requested


You will have:

  • strong knowledge and experience of evidence based service delivery in early intervention
  • high level of conceptual and analytical ability and be able to see the big picture
  • strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • strong practice knowledge particularly in the area of early intervention
  • the ability to work flexibly and with ambiguity
  • strong written and verbal communication skills
  • energy and resilience for facilitating change in the region's practice
  • a full driver's license.
