The Secondary Tertiary team is responsible for operational policy, curriculum and support programmes for Year 11-13 learners, the secondary-tertiary interface. This includes senior secondary curriculum, NCEA (including the NCEA Review and the Review of Achievement Standards) and secondary-tertiary programmes.

The Senior Advisor, Senior Secondary, contributes to designing and developing curriculum, teaching and learning initiatives for senior secondary education to support a smooth transition to further education and the world of work. They provide savvy advice on implementing policy, from design through to implementation, and on the design and delivery of curriculum and assessment content. They ensure a deliberate focus on student achievement is maintained by providing thought leadership and guidance in senior secondary education.

As the Ministry embarks on a comprehensive Review of Achievement Standards as part of the NCEA Review, we are looking for someone who ideally has experience in pedagogical practice within the secondary sector and understands assessment methodology. The successful candidate is likely to take responsibility for a number of subjects working closely with the education sector, subject expert panels, NZQA and other key stakeholders.
