Job Description

Senior Advisor Learning Support - Service Support Team

Based in Wellington

Two positions avaliable

 

We are looking for two experienced senior advisors who can support the provision of specialised services and programmes of work across a range of Learning Support areas that enable children and young people to stay engaged and achieve in education. The senior advisors will also be involved in writing ministerials, briefings and reports to support the Service Support team.

The work is complex, demanding and involves:

  • providing advice and support, practical solutions to complex issues and sound risk management in portfolio areas
  • creating change and continuous improvement through the  implementation of new approaches and tools to support the engagement and achievement of students
  • national level  planning, monitoring and reporting on new initiatives and programmes
  • managing relationships with Ministry regional offices, the sector, other agencies, and providers of education services.

 

In this role you will be expected to contribute to the overall work of the team. The successful applicants will need to demonstrate:

  • an in-depth understanding of factors influencing education performance, wellbeing and achievement for the Ministry's priority learners
  • experience in working with complex issues and concepts
  • high level analysis and problem solving ability
  • strong relationship  management experience
  • excellent writing skills and communication skills
  • strengths in project planning and implementation
