 About our group and team

Our teams around the country work closely with the Early Childhood and Schooling sectors, providers, and communities to provide support, expertise and resources to help children and young people reach their full potential.   We also directly provide Learning Support for around 40,000 children and young people.

 About this role

As the Senior Analyst you'll provide the information we need to make decisions on where to focus our support for maximum impact. This information will include statistical analysis, forecasting, modelling and reporting. You'll also enhance and improve existing dashboards.

You'll work as part of a team who will use your data and insights to improve the systems and infrastructure to make a difference to the early childhood services, schools and children of Wellington.

This position requires close working relationships with a range of staff across our region. The role also involves building relationships with the education sector and will be a liaison point for data requests and insights.

The successful applicant will also support the collection and analysis of wider regional data, patterns and trends to support collaboration across the social sector.

 About you

You will be able to demonstrate that they can quickly establish strong relationships with a range of groups and individuals. This will include building credibility quickly and becoming a trusted adviser to the Wellington region leadership team.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with data to identify needs and priorities.
  • A proven history of providing high level strategic analytical advice and support.
  • Experience in relevant software packages, including advanced excel and Power BI.
  • An ability to develop strong working relationships both within and outside the Ministry.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • A current full driver's licence is essential.
  • The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga.
  • A tertiary qualification is preferred alongside an understanding of education systems in New Zealand.
