Assistant Adviser, Central Investigation Team 

We are looking for a motivated and driven person to join the Learning Support team in National Office, Wellington.

The Assistant Adviser, Central Investigation Team is a telephone and information based role that manages the daily non-enrolment notifications and unjustified absences. You will be making daily contact with parents/caregivers and schools regarding children who are absent from school and referring them to the Attendance Service if required.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate:

  • excellent telephone and customer service skills
  • managing difficult telephone conversations
  • relationship management experience
  • be efficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Be able to use a range of computer based databases



We are looking for a motivated and driven person to join the Provider Services team, Learning Support in National Office, Wellington.

Working within the Provider Services team you will initially have portfolio responsibilities for multi barrier and boarding allowance applications and eligibility to enrol enquiries.

The team oversees a range of programmes and services that support students across New Zealand to stay engaged and achieve in education. You will maintain a national overview of the activities being delivered and provide guidance, support and improvements to ensure the delivery of high quality programmes and services.

The work is complex, demanding and involves a focus on student achievement, in particular for the Ministry's priority learners; managing relationships with the sector; other agencies; and providers of education services.

In this role you will be expected to contribute to the overall work of the team.  The successful applicant will need to demonstrate:

  • experience in working with complex issues and concepts
  • high level analysis and problem solving ability
  • relationship and stakeholder management experience
  • excellent writing skills and communication skills
