Help shape the future of Education
At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work together to shape an education system that delivers equitable and excellent outcomes.
Our organisation is made up of more than 4,000 talented and committed people around New Zealand, from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures.
While we work in different groups and on different things, we all strive every day to make the biggest difference we can for every child, young person and adult student in our education system.
About our group and team
Our Group, Te Pae Aronui provides integrated operational support to our regions for their work with the education sector and others to deliver inclusive education that meets the needs of ākonga and whanau.
The purpose of the System Innovation team is to identify, progress and contribute to opportunities to improve education outcomes for children and young people who require additional support to learn. We have a performance improvement focus looking across the whole system and connect with many teams across the Ministry.
About this role
Our work is varied; from long term strategic change to fast design and start up initiatives. As a senior advisor in the System Innovation team you'll help to identify and progress opportunities to improve the performance of the education system for children and young people with additional learning needs.
We are leading or contributing to a range of current initiatives including the Learning Support Action Plan, Learning Support Coordinator implementation, Deaf Education and NZSL in Education, programmes arising from COVID-19 and the annual Budget cycle.
This role is full time and based in Wellington. The role could be available as an internal or external secondment for 12 - 18 months if that is desirable. There is some flexibility around working arrangements.
You will work closely with colleagues across the Ministry of Education, and with education sector and other key stakeholders.
You will bring great relationship management and team working skills, and be outcomes focused, organised and action oriented.
Preparing high quality advice for decision-makers is a core aspect of this role, so experience in this is desirable. You will understand and be able to apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga in your work.
We are looking for a positive, can-do person who wants to make a difference for children and young people with learning support needs. You will need to be effective in an emergent context, and be a capable navigator.
We need to reflect the diverse communities we serve, so we welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, orientations, and identities. As an organisation, we are committed to building racial equity and excellence in the education sector.
We want to provide flexible working environments where everyone feels relevant, valued and supported.
Are you ready to make a difference?
As a government agency, the Ministry is committed to keeping to the Treaty of Waitangi's guiding principles in our work for and with Māori students, their whānau, hapū and iwi.
