About our group and team
Te Puna Ohumahi Mātauranga | Education Workforce is a key part of the Ministry.
We develop the education workforce strategy, including a focus on specialist services, employment relations, pay equity, education payroll, supply and scholarship functions. Our group ensures the system has the right people in the right places at the right time for early learning, kōhanga reo, schools and kura. We have links to tertiary education organisations, in particular wānanga, iwi and Māori, peak bodies and others, in the co-design of solutions to workforce challenges, such as provision of teachers with te reo and mātauranga Māori knowledge and Pacific languages.
This role is working across the pay equity and employment relations team. Our team is a vibrant, fast-paced as we work to investigate, settle and implement bargaining within the education sector.
Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
We are looking for an education sector guru, someone who has either extensive experience working in the sector or has strong relationships within the sector. Or, do you have a sound knowledge of human resources and collective bargaining? We are looking for a person who can clearly articulate the Ministry's views and values while carefully considering the interests of the other stakeholders.
Mōhou ake | About you
We are looking for an experienced Senior or Lead Adviser who is responsible for providing advice to the Claims Implementation Manager, the Claims Implementation team and the wider pay equity team. This position is a key relationship holder within the education sector.
You will also offer:
- Advanced knowledge of collection bargaining and implementation of outcomes
- Experience with relationship management in a complex stakeholder engagement project
- Advanced experience and skills in relevant work areas which could include HR management, project management, policy analysis, and payroll management
- Experience in researching and developing strategies
- Knowledge of the public sector environment and machinery of government
- Knowledge of public sector labour market issues
- the ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga.
