At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.
We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

Te Puna Hanganga, Matihiko | Infrastructure & Digital - Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, leads inclusive, accessible and integrated national, digital and physical infrastructure and transport services to the education system.

The Infrastructure Procurement team is a vibrant and diverse team, where no two days are the same. We work together with our partners to deliver effective, inclusive procurement solutions, which support the vision for school property.
Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
You will shape procurement solutions which maximise the benefits and outcomes that the Ministry and schools receive from their expenditure, contributing to the growth of future generations in New Zealand.
You will also lead a variety of procurements across our property portfolio; working collaboratively to undertake needs analysis, developing sourcing strategies, delivering procurement plans, managing and developing better processes, leading evaluations; facilitating contract negotiation and award processes.

Mōhou ake | About you
This opportunity will provide the right candidate with interesting and challenging work and the ability to develop and grow their career. You will be able to build effective working relationships with key stakeholders and will have the ability to prioritise and multi-task in an environment where workloads can escalate quickly. A positive and ‘can do' attitude is paramount and experience in the public sector and/or the construction industry would be advantageous.
You will also offer:
- Good commercial nous - an understanding of what drives good service value and how to identify and minimise key commercial risks
- The ability to prioritise and multi-task in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ideally a Tertiary or industry qualification in a related field (for example are eligible or working towards Associate Member (Level 4) of CIPS and/or a relevant tertiary qualification in Business or Accounting); and
- Some experience in data analysis and reporting.
