At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.  We shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About the role

The Project Lead works closely with the Project Manager and project team on the Brand, Communications and Engagement project.  This project is highly cross-functional and is an important workstream within the broader change programme, led by Te Puna Rangatōpū I Corporate Group. This project's overall objective is the development and delivery of an enterprise-wide approach to brand, communications and stakeholder engagement.  This will support the four key shifts outlined above and the delivery of our organisational purpose.  The changes will be informed by research and will be delivered via supporting guidelines and frameworks.

The Project Lead will provide strategic leadership, communication and engagement direction, manage, and drive operational delivery of this cross-functional project.

We are looking for a Project lead who is passionate about adding value at an organisational level and excels in navigating delivery in a change environment.  You have a proven track record in providing strategic, cross-functional communications and engagement leadership across a complex project with a high level of interdependency and reputational significance.  With good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring, and controlling projects with multiple, inter-connected workstreams. You have demonstrated success in delivering the benefits in the Project Plan and building productive relationships across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

 You will bring with you:

• Demonstrated experience in a Project Lead role on a highly cross-functional project that aims to build enterprise-wide leadership and governance
• Demonstrated experience in delivering a large-scale project with multiple stakeholders to time and budget
• Brand, communications and engagement knowledge and experience
• Knowledge and experience of the machinery of Government and the public sector.
• Experience leading a cross-functional team or project with diverse technical expertise
• Good understanding of governance of project management.

• Basic understanding of tikanga Māori, the Treaty of Waitangi and its implications for the work of the Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga I Ministry of Education.

About the team

This is a leadership team role within the Communications & Engagement (CSE) Group, reporting to the Group Manager.  This Group operates a centralised, partnership model of 5 teams offering an end-to-end best practice service spanning brand, insight, internal communications & engagement, design, events, print and warehouse management, external communications, media management, Māori & Pacific communications and digital. This team of experts (and in some cases external partners and suppliers) will work side-by-side within the CSE Group and the broader organisation to co-create cross-functional solutions that achieve our organisation's strategic priorities.
