At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.
We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

About our group and team
Te Mahau - Te Pae Aronui (Operations and Integrations) provides integrated operational support to our regions for their work with the education sector and others to deliver inclusive education that meets the needs of ākonga and whanau.
Te Kahu Tōī, Intensive Wraparound Service (IWS) provides support to families and schools to help a small number of children and young people who have behaviour, social and/or learning needs that are highly complex and challenging (and may have associated intellectual difficulty), require support at school, at home and in the community and for whom all local services/supports have been fully utilised and are unable to meet their needs.
Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
The Lead Advisor - Residential Special School (RSS) is responsible for a broad range of tasks relating to the implementation of intensive support including the leadership, design and integrity of systems and processes to operationalise the residential special school only (RSS only) access pathway.
The Lead Advisor will work closely with Ministry teams/practitioners and the Residential Special Schools to ensure the design and implementation of the RSS only pathway meets the needs of students with complex learning and/or behavioural needs.
