At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally, and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.
Mō tēnei tūranga | About the role
The Network Operations Manager are responsible for professional leadership and advice on the network aspects of Education, Curriculum and Performance's planning and work programme.
This role will work in conjunction with EIS to develop a national long-term strategic plan for network activities and manage the national relationship with property and policy functions to ensure that we have the inputs necessary for prioritisation and decision-making.
The role will also establish nationally consistent business processes and assist with their implementation at a regional level, manage the Service Level Agreement with EIS at a national level and provide professional and technical advice to managers and teams working on network-related activities and strengthening a focus on how school network activities support improved outcomes for students.

You're passionate about making a difference, and will bring your leadership and influential skills to lead, develop long-term strategic plans, business process design, and planning and implementing change and tactical planning explicitly linked to educational outcomes.
You will be comfortable working with key people across the Ministry to develop solutions to address the critical issues and influence continuous improvements in the way we work and engage with our customers and partners to ensure great outcomes
You will bring with you:
- Experience of working in a government agency and a sound understanding of the machinery of government, public sector delivery structures and systems
- Experience in the education sector
- Demonstrated experience in strategic leadership and planning
- Experience of leading and motivating, coaching, and upskilling direct reports
- A high level of intellectual and analytical ability, and capacity to work with an interdisciplinary perspective
- Demonstrated relationship building and management experience including liaising with, communicating to, consulting with, and influencing stakeholders
- Proven experience of effectively leading transformational organisational and business change
- Relevant tertiary qualification in a relevant field (post-graduate preferred)
- Understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and its implications for the work of the Ministry

Te Pae Aronui is the Ministry's operational and integration group (Find out more about Te Pae Aronui via this link). We work closely with our Ministry, sector, and government agency colleagues to ensure early childhood services, schools, kura and communities have the support they need to achieve the best education outcomes for all children and young people.
The schooling network refers to the provision of education in the compulsory sector within an area. It includes state and state integrated provision, as well as networks of Māori medium schools and programmes and special education. The network is dynamic and needs to be responsive to changing needs.
Network activity includes long-term and medium planning of schooling provision, pro-actively identifying changing needs and analysing implications, planning provision for changed needs, and managing changes to the network, including provision of guidance and support to schools
