We have an exciting management opportunity available in our newly formed Te Pou Kaupapahere Group. Education is a high priority area for this Government which has set out an ambitious agenda for change.
Do you want to lead a team that helps work out where the government should put its next education dollar and provide the strategic context to support the government's $11 billion investment in the Education sector? Our Budget Strategy and Education Investment team leads the annual process of advice to Ministers on changes to Vote Education and co-ordinates with Vote Tertiary Education through the Budget process.
You'll join a collegial and supportive management team and a policy shop with a strong policy culture that is driven to make a difference for young New Zealanders.

You'll have scope to deliver real, tangible outcomes and to think strategically about how achieve the policy goals of Government across the education sector.
Your role will be to provide people and policy leadership and to focus on developing your team within this new Group.

If you're known for your drive, energy and can-do attitude, we're keen to hear from you.
You may be an experienced policy manager, or someone ready to step up into management. Either way, you'll bring great stakeholder and people management skills and experience leading complex government policy projects and advice to Ministers.
The ideal person to lead this team will have:
- Experience and sound knowledge of Government Budget processes, Vote management and public finance and reporting requirements
- Experience developing policy advice and prioritisation frameworks
- Leadership and influencing skills to focus and develop a team, get results and drive continuous improvement
- Excellent relationship skills and credibility working across a large organisation, including with senior leaders, and with Ministers, the Treasury and across government
- A high level of numeracy/quantitative skills, and an eye for detail
- Ability to work well and keep calm under pressure.
