Help shape the future of Education
At the Ministry of Education, we work together to shape an education system that delivers equitable and excellent outcomes.
Our organisation is made up of more than 3,000 talented and committed people around New Zealand, from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures.

About our group and team
Te Puna Kaupaphere | Policy
Our group is responsible for whole-of-system, end-to-end policy integration covering early learning, compulsory schooling, and tertiary including Māori medium, te reo Māori, Pacific and Learning Support.
We hold the relationship with all Ministers and provide integrated policy advice to them, including those responsible for Pacific and Māori education. We collaborate across government organisations so our advice to Ministers is joined up.
Our group provides policy support for all Te Tāhuhu. We work to develop strong internal relationships as well as working closely with other central education agencies and other parts of the government. We use high quality research and evidence of what works and are informed by knowledge held by Te Mahau. We work with Te Mahau and are informed by Te Puna Ohumahi Mātauranga | Education Workforce for all our implementation plans for policy.
Our group works closely with Te Tuarongo and other groups, including their connections with iwi, hapū, hapori and Māori peak bodies, in the development of policy that honours te Tiriti o Waitangi.
We hold the regulatory stewardship function across regulatory systems of Te Tāhuhu, taking a whole-of-system, life-cycle view of each regulatory subsystem.
