About the Role
We have the opportunity available to join our Protection team in the National Public Health Service as a Public Health Emergency Manager. This is a permanent, full-time role.
The purpose of this role is to develop and maintain public health emergency management through collaboration and coordination across NPHS and other stakeholders involved in emergency planning and response. This role is key to supporting public health emergency management for the health and disability system and providing assurance to our partners and governance structure on the state of readiness across the system. It acknowledges that there are two distinct modes of operation; a business-as-usual component and a response component that operates in a high stress environment using previously rehearsed procedures while rapidly responding to the unfolding needs of an event.

About you
You will have proven expertise in emergency management, providing guidance support and development opportunities to ensure effective delivery of emergency management program and initiatives. You are able to engage with stakeholders, and governance groups in support of clear progress reporting, highlighting of risks and opportunities, and securing timely and informed decisions.
- A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification
- Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
- Tertiary qualification in a health or relevant field and/or equivalent experience
- Advanced knowledge of the health system, risk management, and managing at the political interface
- Experience of developing and implementing activities for improving public health and health protection
- Extensive specialised experience in Emergency Management, contributing to the reduction of and management of public health incidents and emergencies
- Experience of public health legislation and regulations and standards in New Zealand
