About the Role
As a Financial & Capital Accountant, you'll play a key role in supporting the financial management and reporting of capital projects across Hawke's Bay. You'll be responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, timely reporting, and proactive risk identification across the full capital project lifecycle, while supporting strong financial governance and compliance with Health New Zealand policies and standards.
This is a varied and detail-focused role where you'll oversee project financial processing, maintain the Fixed Asset Register, support month-end and balance sheet reconciliations, and prepare financial reports and cash flow forecasts for senior stakeholders. You'll work closely with project managers, finance teams, and operational leaders to ensure project budgets, reporting, and financial records remain accurate and transparent. Alongside this, you'll support GST and FBT processing, manage special-purpose and clinical trial funds, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen financial systems and processes across the organisation.
About you
As a Financial & Capital Accountant, you'll bring strong analytical capability, financial acumen, and the ability to build trusted relationships across a complex organisation. You will also have:
- A tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- More than three years' experience in a relevant finance or project accounting environment.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting processes, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate project financial records.
- Proven experience working collaboratively with project stakeholders, including supporting budget holders and project managers with financial reporting and insights.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills, with strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset.
