Job Description

12 month Fixed term

Inland Revenue contributes to the economic and social wellbeing of New Zealand by collecting and distributing taxes and entitlements. Now is a great time to join us! We're undergoing an exciting transformation that puts customers at the centre of everything we do. We aim to make the tax system simpler, more open and certain for New Zealanders to pay their taxes and receive their entitlements.

Our Research and Evaluation team requires a Senior Researcher to engage with and respond to the business, to lead and implement fit-for-purpose research projects. The outcomes of these ensure quality customer-centric intelligence-led decisions are made for the organisation.

In this role you will be involved in:

  • Leading research projects – Working from research design through to analysis and dissemination
  • Providing research and evaluation that delivers insights for Inland Revenue and the public sector more broadly.
  • Managing stakeholder relationships – Collaborating across the organisation

We require a person who can hit the ground running, someone with great project management skills, is naturally curious, and can see the linkages between research and evaluation and the strategic direction of an organisation.

  • Technically you'll have a solid background in research with experience in qualitative and quantitative methods. The ideal candidate will have a record of working well in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • By nature you're a pragmatist; you have the ability to deal with ambiguity and can still drive through a timely and considered outcome.
  • What sets you apart from others is your EQ. You'll be collaborating with a broad range of internal stakeholders across the organisation to gain an understanding of their needs.  You have strong interpersonal and written communication skills, which you will use to ensure communication is suited to the needs of your audience.

So why come and work with us? The team here love what they do.  You'll be working with a manager who is committed to the team and helping Inland Revenue to make more intelligent use of information.

If this sounds like an opportunity you'd like to be a part of, please apply online, attaching a copy of your resume and a covering letter outlining what skills and experience you bring to this position.

Please note applications closes 23rd July 2017
