Our new organisation is taking big steps forward, with new appointments to be made into the senior leadership teams of the newly formed Customer & Compliance Services groups (CCS).

This role is responsible for improving the customer experience and their long term compliance and to champion IR's customer-centric and intelligence–led culture.

Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner Customer and Compliance Services – Individuals, the Community Compliance Leader will lead the establishment of our new environment for shared positive outcomes, leading our people to make the right decisions through empowerment and support.  This includes the leadership of a team of around 350 employees across New Zealand.

Principally you will ensure customer services and interactions deliver the desired experience and compliance outcomes. You will build and manage sustainable relationships with tax agents, community groups and businesses to influence and support customers getting it right from the start.

You will have the appropriate credibility, skills and knowledge to provide services to Māori customers in the spirit of the Treaty of Waitangi.

To achieve these outcomes you will partner with other leaders to develop and deliver an integrated customer strategy to represent IR and our partner agencies in different communities to support the provision of joined-up services.

 As such we are looking for some key attributes in your experience, including:

  • Deep experience of strategic planning and stakeholder management in a large and complex organisation, including expertise in relevant methodologies and techniques.
  • Significant experience of leading distributed teams who work directly with diverse community groups.
  • Being a recognised authority and thought-leader in your area of expertise, with an understanding of its role within the broader system.
  • Expertise in technical stewardship and accountability for 'best practice'/standards in a large and complex organisation.
