An opportunity has arisen for a creative, data-passionate, and survey-savvy Researcher to join our award-winning Research & Evaluation team here at Inland Revenue (IR).

 

IR's Research & Evaluation team takes a lead role in providing evidence-based knowledge and insights into what influences our customers and their behaviour.  These insights help IR make business and strategic decisions about issues and trends and helps inform how best to support individual New Zealanders and Kiwi businesses.

 

In this role you will support our busy customer surveying function to translate business ideas and strategies into clever, targeted, insight-driven outcomes. You'll draw on your qualitative and quantitative experience as you work on sample extraction, questionnaire development, and critically, analysis. The customer insights you provide will influence the design and implementation of future campaign delivery.

 

  • You're someone who prides themselves in understanding the context of the story behind the data, and has a strong ability to communicate insights to your customer.

 

  • We'll be looking to see your demonstrable experience in statistically robust sample design and selection methods, and the ability to link this to research questions. Knowledge of survey design is required, and experience with SAS or SQL is highly desirable.

 

  • As the role often requires responding quickly to the sampling needs of our clients you will be calm under pressure, and able to juggle priorities.  

 

  • You may have come from a public sector background, but this isn't essential. We're looking for someone who has worked with large, complex data, and who has a curiosity for social policy.
