Job Description

Inland Revenue (IR) is transforming; we're making it easier for customers to do business with us. We're listening and working collaboratively with customers, agencies across government, and in the private sector as we design new processes and services.

The newly-created role of Group Lead, Information Sharing is a key position within the leadership team of the newly formed Information & Intelligence Services (IIS) group, and will champion IR's intelligence–led and customer-centric culture.

The environment you shape impacts the organisation as a whole; we need someone who truly collaborates, who understands that the information we gather feeds not only IR strategy and business decisions, but contributes to wider public sector outcomes. So your relationships with your colleagues internally and across the public management system is critical playing our part as a connected and empowered organisation.

We'll be looking to see:

  • Your significant experience in leading teams of information experts who inform and enable business planning and outcomes. Our highly capable team are spread across New Zealand, so we need to see your comfort leading and engaging geographically diverse groups.
  • Your ability to establish, implement and manage formal information sharing agreements, understanding the sensitivities and nuances involved, especially within the public sector.
  • Being a recognised authority and thought-leader in your area, with an understanding of broader systems context.  We want to see your passion for what you do every day, and the curiosity you have to explore and challenge boundaries.
  • A strong record of delivering information sharing projects that inform business activities.
  • You'll be partnering with both internal and external parties, often each with differing priorities, to successfully deliver to IR strategy. We'll be looking to see your ability to build strong relationships, champion, and influence appropriately to successfully deliver the best outcome.
  • Technical stewardship and accountability for 'best practice'/standards in a large and complex organisation. You lead our leaders, you're a pragmatist, and you care.

As our Group Lead Information Sharing, you will partner with other leaders to develop and deliver an integrated strategy to represent IR, and our partner agencies, in different contexts. You will have the appropriate credibility, skills and knowledge to provide services to Māori in the spirit of the Treaty of Waitangi.

The team here care very deeply about providing a quality service for our customers; our front-line experts provide help and guidance to a hugely diverse customer base, covering New Zealand and abroad, informed by the insights generated by you and your IIS colleagues.  You'll be working alongside genuine people who strive to make a difference - strategic thinkers with an action bias.

Applications close 17th December - we look forward to reading your cover letter and CV submitted via the Inland Revenue website soon. In light of the Christmas holiday period selected applicants will need to make themselves available for interview from the week commencing 15th January.
