12-month Fixed Term and / or Secondment opportunity

 

Inland Revenue's Policy & Strategy (PAS) group is responsible for providing policy advice to the Government on tax and social policy issues, and leading the development of Inland Revenue's (IR) strategy.

 

The Policy team's focus is on providing tax and social policy advice to the Government. As part of this they work closely with Treasury, and both internal and external stakeholders.  The Strategy team's focus is on the long-term future of Inland Revenue from the Commissioner's and a whole-of-government perspective.  They also lead and coordinate Inland Revenue's involvement in the cross-agency improvement in Government services

 

To assist the PAS Deputy Commissioner (DC) and the PAS Leadership Team in achieving those objectives we have an opportunity for an experiencedsenior Advisor.

 

As Advisor you will provide advice to the leadership team around risks, opportunities and the status of key management priorities, and engage across IR to drive the achievement of our business plans. A key role will be to support PAS through transformation by leading ongoing improvements, including developing new ways of working and driving initiatives that enable best practice policy development.

 

To ‘hit the ground running', you will need to possess a career history that demonstrates:

 

  • Experience leading and supporting change processes
  • Proven success working collaboratively with senior management teams to develop, influence, and embed good management practice
  • Excellent policy skills and experience working with Ministers
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills, engaging and partnering with appropriate people across an organisation to quickly achieve goals
  • High levels of personal drive, motivation, flexibility and initiative
  • Experience in leading through others
