Inland Revenue (IR) is currently reinventing itself as a modern revenue organisation.  This transformation will bring about significant change to the way we operate and how we interact with our customers.  We're making the tax system simpler, more open and certain for New Zealanders to pay their taxes and receive their entitlements.  This is one of the largest transformation programmes in New Zealand's history.

Our recently established Legal Services unit works to improve long term compliance through providing quality legal and technical advice and litigation services.  We have 2 opportunities for PA/Team Administrator administrative professionals to join the team as Business Support Officers (BSO's).

We are seeking ‘admin guru's' who possess a talent for developing effective working relationships with people at all levels of the organisation, and who have a natural curiosity to understand our business.

 

As a Business Support Officer you will be dealing with sensitive documents and involved in senior management-level discussions and meetings, you will understand the need for confidentiality and display a high level of integrity.  You need to be action-orientated and will be comfortable managing conflicting and changing priorities and be confident working with others around this.

 

You will have a strong people focus – able to work with people at all levels of the organisation to get the best results for everyone.  You will anticipate people's needs, focusing on solutions rather than problems.  Your advanced knowledge of the MS suite of products, your friendliness and your calm, can-do attitude is a must.  We need a highly organised self-starters who are capable of working to many demands and tight deadlines.

 

Ideally you should possess practical experience in a similar public sector role and expect to perform a full range of professional executive and administrative support functions, including;

 

  • Diary and Email management
  • Organising meetings, agendas, and taking meeting minutes as required
  • Event & catering arrangements
  • Preparation & drafting of correspondence e.g. email, letters and documents
  • Ad hoc mini project work as required

 

 

We expect you to possess excellent written communication skills and be a skilled oral communicator in order to convey information clearly and succinctly to various audiences.  Your ability to achieve objectives and meet deadlines will be crucial as will your experience working in a fast-paced environment managing competing demands.
