Mō te tūranga | About the role
As the Principal Ranger - Community and Partnerships, you'll lead and elevate our regions engagement with partners, stakeholders and communities. This is a key leadership role responsible for shaping how community aspirations are integrated into our work.

The position will be focussed on:

• Leading, developing, and empowering a high-performing team with a strong, positive culture
• Planning and coordinating the regions permissions applications, community and partner engagement work and statutory work, ensuring delivery on time and within budget
• Contributing as a core member of the Statutory and Community Leadership Team, influencing direction, priorities, and resourcing
• Building and maintaining trusted relationships with stakeholders, partners and the community, recognising the significance of this work and achieving mutually beneficial outcomes
• Managing budgets, resources, risks, and performance outcomes
• Partnering across DOC teams and with external stakeholders to deliver conservation impact
• Leading with integrity and modelling DOC values in all interactions

If you have some of the following, we are keen to hear from you:

• Proven experience leading and developing teams, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and build a collaborative culture
• Strong community engagement expertise, including experience developing or implementing engagement approaches or frameworks
• Proven knowledge and understanding of regulatory and statutory processes
• Sound understanding of Te Ao Māori and the iwi landscape within the Central North Island
• Demonstrated experience working effectively alongside stakeholders, boards, committees and the community. Excellent relationship management skills and the ability to influence and deliver through partnership
• Financial and resource management capability
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, collaborative approach

The salary range for this position is $93,656 - $118,510 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory - this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
