Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
This role is in our Māori Crown Relations group, which leads the work on managing properties held for Treaty settlement. Including the Treaty Settlement Landbank. These are properties that come into the Landbank when a government department decides it no longer needs them and there is the possibility that they could be used as either cultural or commercial redress in a Treaty settlement.
As the Portfolio Manager you will work collaboratively across the organisation, managing several portfolios as you represent the views of Toitū Te Whenua and the interests of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, you will maintain a strong customer focus both internally and with our external contacts. You will be forward thinking so you can develop new and test existing ideas to help drive change and make a difference.
Some experience in contributing to Māori Crown Relations work programmes and the delivery of cultural support is essential for this role. You will be committed to strengthening the Māori-Crown relationship through Te Tiriti o Waitangi and will bring a high level of competency to Māori values, practice and perspective to your work.
He pūkenga tou - Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- knowledge of land and property management, ideally in either; acquisitions, asset management or disposal
- understanding/knowledge or experience of the Waitangi Tribunal treaty process (is desirable)
- Understanding of Tikanga Māori is highly desirable
- sound knowledge of government and public sector processes
- proven experience making proactive and considered decisions, demonstrating that you are a critical thinker and can provide strategic advice
- experience communicating complex issues clearly and succinctly
- Relationship building experience in order to partner with Māori and Iwi and across the public sector
The salary range for this position is $83,307 – 112,709. This position is available from any of our office locations: Wellington, Christchurch & Hamilton. Some travel to Wellington may be required for initial training and ongoing work.
