Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
To support the on-time and on-track delivery of our Geospatial applications and solutions in this work, you'll rely on your significant experience with ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online and/or Enterprise. You'll develop and administer digital map system and applications, mobile applications and perform geospatial analysis. We'll look to you to collaborate with your team and contribute to our core projects and communicate with external parties to ensure our solutions are fit for purpose and optimise both performance and the quality of our data. You will be responsible for strategically aligning geospatial systems across our national programme support space and identifying efficiencies and improvements platform wide.
As part of your role, you'll draw on your technical geospatial skill to support your team to develop the Toitū Te Whenua LINZ and wider sector strategies and programmes in the Biodiversity and Biosecurity space. Day-to-day, you'll be undertaking research, providing advice and ensuring the effective evaluation of interventions is consistently supported by your work. You'll also have the opportunity to support systems such as the Wilding Conifer Information System or the Wallaby Information System. To sustain this work, ideally, you'll be comfortable performing data cleaning to convert data into its desired form and managing large datasets with a variety of data formats and coordinate projections. You will be familiar with ETL tools such as FME Desktop or FME Server to assist in managing data and data workflows.
You will draw on your strong communication and relationship building skills to collaborate with key stakeholders and partners to ensure best outcomes for Toitū Te Whenua LINZ.

He pūkenga tou - Skills & Experience
To help you in this role, you will ideally be able to competently demonstrate the below:
- Deep knowledge of ESRI formats and the ESRI platform
- Significant knowledge in developing spatial data from maps, documents and other data sources
- Strength in analysing data and developing spatial data models and maps
- Proficient in managing and maintaining data sets and significant experience with mapping tools such as ArcGIS Pro
- Attention to detail, analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage large datasets with a variety of data formats and coordinate projections
- Experience working with ETL tools such as FME Desktop and/or FME Server
- Experience developing/administering large scale geospatial systems and applications
- Strong communication skills
The Salary range for this role starts at $95,846 with a midpoint of $112,760 and we are welcoming applications from people who can work from one of our following three office locations in Wellington, Hamilton or Christchurch.
