Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
This is a great opportunity to be at the heart of ensuring New Zealanders benefit from overseas investment. Senior Advisors in the Applications Team use their experience of strong critical analysis and sound judgement to analyse applications against legal tests under the Overseas Investment Act 2005 and assess risks. This includes overseas investment in sensitive land, significant business assets, and strategically important businesses. The applications are often high-profile and politically sensitive.
Senior Advisors are required to effectively present their analysis and recommendations to decision-makers (including Ministers), applicants, and the wider public. Senior Advisors are also expected to mentor junior colleagues and contribute to overall improvements of our regulatory regime.
No two applications are the same and this role provides the opportunity to demonstrate strong critical analytic skills.
He pūkenga tou - Skills & Experience
To succeed in this role, you will have a relevant tertiary degree in law, economics, commerce, accounting, or a relevant field. Experience providing advice in complex regulatory settings and being able to see the “bigger picture” is beneficial. You will have excellent communication and relationship management skills will help you confidently interact with investors and their advisors. You will have an enquiring mind with the ability to identify key issues and risks from a wide range of information.
The expected appointing range for this role is $99,000 - $125,000 dependant on relevant skills and experience.
